Healthcare professionals in Modesto no longer need to block out a full day for resuscitation training. Safety Training Seminars, located at 706 13th Street, Suite A, offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS—a flexible training option that fits around demanding hospital schedules, clinical rotations, and shift work.
Whether you work at Doctors Medical Center on Florida Avenue, Memorial Medical Center on Coffee Road, or Kaiser Permanente’s Modesto Medical Center on Dale Road, getting your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard no longer requires sitting through a scheduled classroom event. You complete the online learning at your own pace, then verify your skills independently at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. That’s it.
Self-Guided Learning™ is an American Heart Association® course option that combines two independent components:
This approach replaces the traditional model where learners attend a scheduled class led by an instructor. With Self-Guided Learning, you control the timeline. There are no fixed class times. No group schedules. No waiting for a seat.
Upon successful completion of both components, you receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. The eCard is valid for two years and meets the requirements for employment, hospital credentialing, and clinical rotation programs.
The online portion of a Self-Guided Learning course uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence level, then adjusts the content path in real time. If you already understand a concept, the system moves you forward. If you need more work on a particular topic, it focuses there.
The result is a personalized learning pathway that’s competency-focused and efficient. Most learners complete the BLS online course in one to two hours. ACLS and PALS typically take two to three hours.
You can complete this portion on a laptop, desktop, or tablet—at home, at the hospital, or anywhere with internet access. The course is aligned with the latest American Heart Association guidelines.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
Once you finish the online learning activity, you schedule your hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station learning center at Safety Training Seminars’ Modesto location.
The self-guided skills session takes approximately 30 minutes for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. During the session, you perform the required psychomotor skills independently on a Voice-Assisted Manikin (VAM). The station provides real-time, objective performance feedback on compression depth, recoil, rate, and ventilation—without any live instructor coaching or evaluation.
The CPR Verification Station learning center measures your performance against AHA-defined criteria. If you need additional practice, you can repeat the required skills activity. Once you achieve a passing score, you’ve completed the course pathway and are eligible to receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard.
This is not instructor-led training. It’s a fully self-directed experience, designed to reduce time away from work while maintaining the rigorous standards that AHA courses require.
Self-Guided Learning courses work best for:
If your employer requires an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard and your schedule makes traditional classroom training difficult, Self-Guided Learning courses solve that problem directly.
